We are looking for a professional individual that is interested in joining a team committed to the growth of the business, maintaining a healthy work environment, and wants a place they can grow. This position requires someone who is detail oriented and has experience in construction and estimating, and with reading architectural construction drawings. We would prefer someone with experience in our specific scope and with both residential and commercial jobs, but it is not required as long as other requirements are met. This position will be responsible for formulating estimates for jobs of varying sizes, ensuring accurate costs with suppliers, building and maintaining good relationships with General Contractors, homeowners, business owners, suppliers, and subcontractors. This position will require an understanding of project flow and management, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining cost control and good relationships through the projects lifespan. On the job training in specific systems, resources, and expectations necessary to successfully complete work will be provided. Pay dependent on experience and requirements met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ Years Construction Experience
  • 2+ Years Estimating Experience
  • Education in or experience with reading architectural drawings
  • General knowledge of takeoff software
  • Computer fluency with Microsoft Office, online software, email, and basic troubleshooting
  • Availability to work in-person Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 (This is not a remote position).

Responsibilities

  • Locate and identify commercial jobs to bid using multiple different avenues (some already provided).
  • Utilize software tools such as Buildertrend, Procore, Building Connected, Construct Connect, etc. for estimating processes.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and gather necessary data for estimates.
  • Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and office staff to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Build strong relationships with General Contractors and Owners to encourage winning jobs.
  • Obtain accurate quotes from suppliers for each estimate.
  • Manage time to be able to submit estimates to clients in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate contracts with General Contractors to ensure favorable terms for the company.
  • Uphold company policy throughout project lifespan by enforcing contract requirements and proper documentation of work with General Contractors and Owners
  • On site coordination with Project Managers and Superintendents as needed during project lifespan.
  • Be available to take occasional calls from Project Managers, Superintendents, etc. regarding on site issues or questions and coordinate with owner on handling any issues that arise.

Skills (These will be throughout the job and will need to be learned quickly, if not already present)

  • Proficiency in construction estimating techniques and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in takeoff software functions.
  • Strong sales or negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Understanding of cost control measures in a construction environment.
  • Familiarity with construction management practices and principles.
  • Proficient in using Buildertrend.
  • Familiarity in the company's scope of work (including framing, drywall, paint, finishes, etc.).
  • Familiarity with material names and variances enough to communicate with suppliers and clients.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and plan specs accurately.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for precise estimations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when having difficult conversations regarding contracts, costs, and policies with clients.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and utilizing varying online software.
  • Ability to do basic research.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve basic technical issues.

Job Type:  Full Time

Expected Hours:  40 per week

Schedule: 8 hour shift

Pay:  $50,000 - $70,000 (dependent upon experience and requirements met)

Work Location: In person

Experience: 

  • Construction: 2 years (preferred)
  • Estimating: 2 years (preferred)
